A Vlog About Hate Crimes & More

A transgendered woman "Teish" Cannon, 22, was murdered here in Syracuse, NY on Fri. Nov. 14. Her family wants the crime to be prosecuted as a hate crime. I also vlog about the importance of being out, and also talk about the recent Ani DiFranco concert I attended, and the upcoming holidays and the difficulty of celebrating them after the recent loss of a loved one.

As a footnote, our paper referred to her as "gay" because that's how the family referred to her. However, my good friend (and one of the editors) fought w/ the head editor to instead use "transgendered" as this person was clearly trans. Her family and her boyfriend use female pronouns when speaking about her. Several newscasts also referred to her as gay, but by Sunday I did see one newscast that actualy used the word "transgendered."
We have a lot of work to do!
